Disinfo Dolphins

Poetry by Natasha Sanders-Kay

Rumors spread like the virus:

Venetian canals turned turquoise from lack of boats
      now brimming alive
    succulent with swans
      dolphins dancing

    in a Chinese village
elephants throw a drunk tea party
    thunderous bodies traipsing through
      trunks tossing back corn wine
passing out blissful in a garden

We slurp up words and pixels
glug-glugging a new virus named Hope

    Debunked Debunked
    Debunked Debunked
     Debunked

Social media and news sites aswirl in repurposed pictures
   retweets TikToks
images replicated
   again again again
hundreds of thousands of views
   stories exploding utterly viral
Clickclickclick for face feel-good
   mirage cocktails sweeter than morals
elephants more exciting than ethics

Lungs starved for air
   instead inhale smoke
drowning in Santa Claus soup

Harm lies
  in the lie
      Clickclick
